Trojan hijacks Google ads

There is a new trojan spreading which changes Google text ads to other ads.

BitDefender found Trojan.Qhost.WU trojan which edits hosts file of
the infected computer.

After that, computer doesn't load Google ads but ads from elsewhere.

- Virus harms users and webmasters by re-directing readers and money as well, BitDefender expert Attila-Mihaly Balazs said to vnunet.

Problems with latest IE security update

Microsoft has get reports of users that have had problems using Internet Explorer after last week IE security update.

Some told that they have problems accessing web sites and others said that IE won't open at all.

Reports started to come almost immediately after MS07-069 update release a week ago.

Problems seem to affect both IE 6 and IE7 as well as both Windows XP and Windows Vista.
Microsoft has released a temporary solution.

Some changes below:

- System reboot no longer takes too long when CFP is installed with some other security software, e.g. avast!
- "System Idle Process" is now changed to "Windows Operating System" to describe application less traffic (So no more "System Idle Process" in CFP)
- System performance has been improved

Spam emails reached new record

According to Symantec 72 percent of emails were spam in November.

That was because spammers tried to find new working emails using a method that if mail didn't come back, mail address works.

Bill Gates said on 2004 that spam will be defeated within 2 years. Well that's not exactly what has happen.

Amount of spam emails has raised from 56 percent in 2006 to 72 percent in Nov 2007.

Spam tacticts include eg. seasonal spams (Christmas, Thanksgiving etc.), image spams, attachment spams and pump-and-dump spams.

November Windows updates coming on next Tuesday

Total 7 security updates will be released on 11th of December. They are for Windows itself, DirectX, Windows Media Player and Internet Explorer.

Three of them are classified as critical and rest as important. Also Malicious Software Removal tool, Microsoft Update, Windows Server Update Services and Download Center get updated.

Microsoft is also planning to release 7 non-security updates, all classified as high.

Firefox 2.0.11 released

Firefox 2.0.11 was released on Friday.

This version fixes bugs which were encountered on 2.0.10 version.
